Mejl reads your mail from Gmail only to show it and run the features you use. Your messages stay in Gmail, and you can remove Mejl’s access at any time.

When you sign in, Google asks you to let Mejl read, write, and organize your Gmail, and manage your Gmail filters. Mejl needs this to show your mail, send email, apply labels for your views, and create the filter rules you set up. It cannot delete email permanently without it going to Trash first, and it cannot read your Google Drive, Calendar, or contacts.
Your messages stay in Gmail. Mejl reads a message from Gmail when you open it or when a feature needs it. Mejl stores your account details, encrypted Google sign-in tokens, your settings, and what it needs to keep your mailbox in sync. It also keeps an encrypted list of email addresses to suggest recipients when you write.
Sorting by description, thread summaries, writing tools, and reply suggestions send the relevant email content to AI providers. Mejl requires zero data retention for these requests, and the providers cannot use your mail to train models. Mejl does not sell your data or use it for ads.
To stop Mejl’s access, open your Google Account, go to Security, then to your connections to third-party apps, and remove Mejl. To delete your Mejl account, open Preferences from the account menu, or from Settings on the web, and choose Delete account. Cancel a renewing Mejl Plus subscription first.
